Wedding party roles and what do they do? Choosing the right wedding party for your dream wedding day | Nottingham & Lincolnshire natural wedding photographer

Let’s talk about how you choose your bride tribe, what duties they do, and their etiquette (Yes, bridesmaids, this one is for you too!)

Choosing your bride tribe:

Take special care when you select which guests will join you on your wedding dress hunt….

First, check how many guests your chosen boutique will allow in their rooms - it's quite common for them to limit the number of guests they will allow you to bring.

-Then take a good hard look at who needs to be there. For instance, is anyone helping pay for the gown? They might want to be there.

-Finally, choose guests who are above all, positive people and whose opinions you value. Make sure your bride tribe is uplifting, understands who you are, what you like, and don't like, and understands that this day is about helping you to choose your gown. (You want to feel comfortable zipping and unzipping all day.) You don’t want to be surrounded by anyone that will bring you down, or hurt you.

Bridesmaids duties:

Being a bridesmaid is a fun and exciting job. If you’re lucky enough to have been chosen, find out exactly what the bridesmaid’s duties include and what is involved in the role here…

Duty One:

Keep an emergency makeup kit with you on the day. The bride needs to look her best throughout the whole day so keep things like her lipstick, blush, and mascara in a little clutch bag so you can keep her touched up the whole day.

Duty Two:

If you have little ones in your bridal party, make sure they are kept in check on the day. Make sure they are where they need to be and photo-ready at all times. This will take a big stress off the bride.

Duty Three:

Throughout the wedding day, your bride is going to need keep hydrated but is probably not going to remember. To avoid her flaking in the afternoon or getting a headache before sure to pass her glasses of water when you can.

Duty Four:

The venue will probably have someone letting the couple know the timings on the day. We suggest you also take note of these prior to the wedding day to help ensure things run without a hitch.

Bridesmaids etiquette:

Being asked to be a bridesmaid is such a privilege, but it doesn't come with a 'How To' guide. What do you do? Here 5 tips on how to be an amazing bridesmaid........

1. Always be on time

To help keep the bride-to-be and the rest of the bridesmaid party stay organized, show up early to anything you need to be at, whenever you can. It also goes without saying that you'll help out by responding to important messages about fittings as soon as you can too.

2. Say Yes!

As a bridesmaid, you’ll be asked your opinion on all sorts of things. Offering a helpful opinion, or point your friend in the right direction if you have some words of wisdom to assist in something. Your bestie will thank you as she'll have a lot on at the moment.

3. Set an Example

Be helpful and present all day. Even though the final day is here, you’ll still need to be on hand for photographs and to support your friend throughout the day.

4. Get the Party Started

On the big day, people tend to be reluctant to hit the dance floor. Now is the time for you and your fellow bridesmaids to shine. Get the party started by busting a move and watch as other guests begin to loosen up and have a good time.

5. Remember to Have Some Fun!

There’s plenty of planning to be done as a bridesmaid, but the most important thing you can do for your friend is have a good time. If you’re having fun, then so are they. Help them enjoy their special day by being the amazing friend that you already are. That’s why they chose you to be a bridesmaid in the first place!

I hope these tips help and inspire you.
