The importance of buying a wedding album - Wedding planning advice and tips for couples | Nottingham & Lincolnshire natural wedding photographer
Hello my readers, today I am going to be talking about the importance of buying a wedding album with your wedding and/or portrait photographer.
It is all too common these days to grab a USB from your photographer and then “print your images out at a later date for cheap” However I want to talk to you about the importance of having an album within your photography package. Why you say, why is it so important to get a photographic album?
There was a point where one would book a photographer and the only thing available was a print from your photoshoot and then albums as technology advanced, I’m sure if you asked your nan or even mum she would probably have an album of some sort around the house.
Now you may not know (or may) but a few years ago it was pretty common for people to have a “CD of images” with their weddings. However, photographers have switched these to USB’s because the CD is dying out. Many Laptops and computers nowadays no longer have CD drives because of the ever-changing adaptive technology that we have today. So it’s pretty useless to have a CD if you cannot access the images or information stored on it. Soon there will no longer be USBs but some new form of technology of some sort, so in turn, our USBs will be just as useless as the Floppy drive! (Mental note, back your images up now!)
But we have good news, good professional photographers offer prints and albums! These are carefully selected from professional laboratories, which the general public cannot access. These, of course, have a higher price bracket than getting your own from the Kodak kiosk in Boots or online, however, the quality is superb and as Photographs are visual products, it’s completely worth the long-term investment.
There is nothing better than holding your photographs in your hand and flicking through the pages, remembering the moments as they appear, the sound of the paper flowing by, even that vintage smell, touching the photograph as you see a loved one. Nothing at all can beat a good custom photo album, your phone device or slideshow of images on your laptop/TV just isn’t quite the same and neither is having your photos proudly on display in your home where you can see them every single day. Not only the benefits are huge for your children’s self-esteem.
Photography is an art and like art, it must be displayed, otherwise, it lacks its true visual and emotional meaning.
Don’t forget hard drives get corrupted all the time & You can lose a small USB stick! But an album, a professionally crafted album will last you a lifetime!
A USB is not much to look at, and other than your wedding rings and your wedding attire your photographs are the only tangible thing from your wedding! After all the flowers die, the cake gets eaten, the disco finishes and you only will have your memories and your photographs really as the keepsake to one of the most special milestones of your lifetime, your wedding photos will increase in VALUE over time, you are most likely to pass on your wedding dress or re-sell it, but your photos- Now you will value them forever especially if anyone passes on.
I personally design all my wedding albums myself, they take hours to do but the results are beautiful.
So my plea to you is to invest in your legacy, invest in you, invest in quality, invest in your photographer.
Again, I do hope this brings you much insight into my little world of photography and helps educate you.
Love and Light, Victoria Louise.
