Understanding photography- Choosing a wedding photographer who edits their photos? | Nottingham & Lincolnshire natural wedding photographer

The power of editing, why is it important while searching for your photographer, and whether they are proficient in photo editing?

Well, there are many positive reasons for editing a photo….

·         Fix backgrounds from when you have photographed outside of the backdrop.

·         Enhance images and just make them shine and pop.

·         Fix mistakes such as exposure and lighting.

·         Add creative artistry such as vintage tones.

·         To fix color cast from bright colors.

·         The camera cannot quite see what the eye can see, so Photoshop helps enhance this.

·         Photography is an art.

·         Fix niggly bits like babies dribble or spots.

·         Add texture to a background to make it less dull.

·         Sharpen an image.

·         Remove “spotters”

Digital editing and photo manipulation

Photo editing is NOT new, even back in the day there was editing done by photographers using the old-fashioned film, they dodged and burnt with different chemicals and set different developing times to control the outlook of their images.

I used to believe that editing was “cheating” & I didn’t really understand why photographers did it, I wanted to wholeheartedly take the perfect photo and not need to “make it better” However as time passed I realized that photography was an art and photoshopping is more of an enhancement in the process and the camera cannot take a 100% accurate form of an image.

I personally hand-pick the photographs I feel are the best that I have taken during a photoshoot and I then edit every one that I feel is worthy and flatters my clients. I chose images that are lit well, with good posing and expressions, and images I feel are frame-worthy and bring them up to their potential in Lightroom first and then Photoshop, giving my clients an overall bespoke service.

So editing allows photographers to bring out the best elements to their photographs, and enhance the quality. add their signature style, create a vision from the photographer, and ensure that you look amazing!!

So when you're looking for a photographer, one that can edit ultimately will enhance you! :)

I hope this blog post helps you understand photography and choosing the right photographer.
