Wedding planning tips for every couple – What you need to do after you get married.

Don’t just plan your wedding day, there are things that you need to do after you get married. Don’t worry though, I’ve got you! Here are the most important things that you need to do after you get married.

The little details:

·   Make sure you haven’t left anything at the venue, by getting someone to pop by the day after.

·   Pack for your honeymoon before your wedding, so it’s ready when you are.  

·   Book in to have your suits and outfits drycleaned after your wedding and stored properly afterwards, away from dust and mites.

·   Consider preserving your wedding flowers by drying them.

·   Don’t forget to write your thank you notes to your guests afterwards.

·   Review and recommend your wedding suppliers, especially if they are small businesses.

·   Take down your wedding website if you made one.

·   Take on a new challenge to beat the post-wedding blues!

·   Return or exchange unwanted gifts.

·   Buy a keepsake box for all the little things you want to keep like a buttonhole, wedding invite, ring box and anything else that you want to remind you of your day or pass on to your children or family.

·   Give away, or sell unwanted wedding décor.

·   Create a wedding memories album with photos and notes of your wedding day.

·   Check your social media hashtag to see your guest’s photos and share your wedding photos with your guests.  

·   Change your name on social media and relationship status.

·   Freeze the top tier of your wedding cake to eat on your 1st wedding anniversary.

·   Return your rentals.

·   Come up with a new financial plan or a joint bank account.

·   Print and frame your favorite wedding photos.

·   Plan what you want to do for your 1st year anniversary.

·   Update your emergency contact information.

3 important factors not to forget!

Legally change your name:

If you have taken your partner’s name you need to change it with the following places: Bank, mortgage/landlord, council, DVLA, employer, insurance company, passport, utility bills, Drs, dent

ist, opticians, other health organizations, voter registration, credit cards, loan companies, subscriptions, and email signatures. If you have biological children together, their surnames should be changed as well, if they don’t already. Don’t forget to update your emergency contact information.

Draw up a will:

This can be handwritten or typed and must include the date and your signature, including having two witnesses over the age of 18, will need to sign and date the document. This includes changing beneficiaries, and savings/trust funds.

Other important details:

Transfer your property in joint names if you have not already, including having a joint bank account. Don’t forget to register your marriage at your local registering office by completing a marriage notice at least 28 days before your wedding. Remember to Keep your marriage certificate in a safe place.
